MATTHEW ALDERMAN was recently approached by Daniel Burke, founder of LIGHTWORKS STAINED GLASS in Lancashire, England, regarding collaborating on new stained glass designs based on his illustrations. Mr. Burke writes:
By pure chance, we recently came across the beautiful work of [...] Matthew Alderman and it immediately struck us how perfectly suited his illustrations would be as cartoons from which to produce stained glass. Having made contact with the [...] artist, who admitted to being greatly inspired by renowned Irish stained glass artist Harry Clarke, Matthew was extremely excited at the prospect of seeing one of his original works physically transformed into stained glass and immediately gave his permission for us to begin work on a producing a sample panel.
We are proud to present you with the with the finished result (right), based on MATTHEW ALDERMAN’s original illustration S. Cecilia of Rome. LIGHTWORKS has done a magnificent job in fleshing out a tiny drawing and transforming it into an entirely new medium at a much larger scale. The special signature “MAS – LSG” will be appended to all future commissions designed by MATTHEW ALDERMAN STUDIOS and produced by LIGHTWORKS.
The completed panel is a taste of what the two studios can achieve in a joint collaboration. We are interested in discussing future stained glass commissions in both the United States and Great Britain and welcome email inquiries, requests for estimates, and other related correspondence regarding this exciting new dimension of both our companies.
